The Psychology services at CBS comprises of psychometric assessments and remedial

measures focusing on basic issues to major classified mental & behavioural disorders.

We provide comprehensive psychological screening and assessments for:

·         Intelligence Assessment : We assess intelligence for both children and adults using culturally-fair tests like MISIC, WAPIS, VAIS.

  • Personality Assessment : We assess personality through projective and objective psychometric sound tests like Rorschach Ink Blot test, Thematic Appreception test, 16 PF, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory.
  • Addiction Severity : We evaluate the severity, frequency and impact of alcohol and other substance use through screening instruments like the Addiction Severity Index.

At CBS, we offer neuropsychological evaluations where the functioning of the brain is objectively assessed. It is used to reveal or diagnose brain dysfunction when no structural brain abnormalities can be seen on CT or MRI scans. The aim is to detect deficits in patient’s brain functioning, define the extent of cognitive deficit and help guide treatment for the patient’s personal, educational or vocational needs. These neuropsychological assessments immensely help in treatment planning for patients of neurology, neurosurgery and psychiatry who have cognitive deficits. The steady increase in the identification of psychological difficulties faced by school children and young adults illustrates the need to ensure their psychosocial well-being. At the Centre for Behavioral Sciences, we offer multiple psychological assessments for developmental, emotional, behavioural and academic difficulties. We also provide psychological counseling for children and adolescents with behavioural, emotional and relationship difficulties.

We specialise in the screening and management of behavioral and educational issues like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), thumb sucking, bedwetting, stealing, lying, intellectual disabilities or specific reading disorders etc. We also help explore emotional disturbances like sibling rivalry, school phobia, and selective mutism. Through relationship and couples counselling, we help people recognize and to better manage or reconcile troublesome differences and repeating patterns of distress. Unhealthy relations might lead to intensive anxiety, distress and even suicide and homicide. We help couples explore:

  • Intrapersonal issues like developing trust, intimacy and bonding, poor stress coping skills
  • Interpersonal issues like infidelity, jealousy, violence, conflict resolution
  • Family and social issues like values, aspirations, goals and parenting styles

This list is not exhaustive and other issues concerning couples can also be explored. We help couples assess external factors that affect their relationship, improve their communication patterns, understand why arguments escalate to help them resolve and negotiate conflicts wherever possible.

We also provide counseling to families to aid its members deal with their anger and frustration related to past issues through the development of positive interaction.

We, at CBS, aim to promote a union between mental health, public health and research to develop evidence-based, cost-effective public mental health interventions in resource constrained settings (low and middle income countries).

 Dr Kushal Jain has diverse research experience from extensive associations with numerous research institutions, such as All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Delhi), Lund University (Sweden), World Health Organization (Geneva), MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child (Delhi) and Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Allied Neuroscience (Delhi).

Dr Devika Mehra has previous research experience of working in South Africa and Uganda with a focus on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, HIV, Mental Health, Sexual violence, youth friendly health services and gender.

We provide internship/shadowing/field supervision for students studying courses in Psychology, Psychiatry, Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, Epidemiology, Anthropology, Research Methodology and Community Mental Health.

The duration of an internship is a minimum of 80 hours and can be extended up to one year.

Director & Senior Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr. Kushal Jain is senior consultant psychiatrist working at CBS. He has more than 12 years of expertise in Psychiatry. Dr. Kushal Jain has obtained his MBBS degree from Government Medical College, Nagpur, Masters in Medicine, MD (Psychiatry) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Lund University, Sweden. He is a licensed member of Delhi Medical Council and life fellow of Indian Psychiatric Society. In over a decade of clinical practice, Dr. Kushal Jain has successfully provided medical assistance to patients suffering from problems such as Psychosis, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Mood disorders (mania, depression), Substance Abuse, Dementia, etc. Dr Jain has been involved in training programmes for general medical practitioners and awareness programmes for the general public related to mental health management and substance misuse prevention and rehabilitation. Ms. Neha Bhimwal is a senior consultant psychologist at CBS. She has completed her M.Phil Clinical Psychology from Institute Of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, New Delhi and is registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). She is trained in administering specific Indian and international tests assessing various childhood and adult parameters. She is also certified in neurocognitive assessment (MCCB Matrices Consensus Cognitive Battery). She specialises in diagnosis and intervention of adult mental health issues, alongside interpersonal and family concerns using a combination of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, family therapy and self-psychology. Over the years she has worked in a leading training organization, NIS Sparta, and in collaboration with corporate and private organizations like NIIT, BPCL, GAIL, TATA, OTIS and Bayers. She has been teaching Human Resource Management in Bachelor and Master programmes at IILM Institute for higher education for over five years. She has been providing executive education for lead public sector players like Engineers India Limited and NBCC. She specialises in Organisational Development which includes training, human resource development projects, assessments and development centers. Public Health Expert and Researcher

Devika Mehra has a PhD in Public Health from Lund University (Sweden) and Msc in International Health Management and Development, from the University of Birmingham (UK). She has previous research experience of working in South Africa and Uganda which focused on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, HIV, Mental Health, Sexual violence, youth friendly health services and gender. She has programmatic experience of working with UNFEM, UNAIDS and MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child in India. Presently, she is an Independent Public Health Consultant monitoring and evaluating projects conducted in low to middle income countries, conducting systematic reviews and writing reports for organisations like SIDA (Swedish International development agency), WHO, academic institutions and other iNGOs. Ms. Prerna Paul, Clinical Psychologist at Centre for Behavioral Sciences, has completed her M.Phil in Clinical Psychology from Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. She is competent in dealing with diverse clients. She is trained administering various psychometric assessments. She has experience in working with clients having psychiatric illnesses like depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, substance abuse and childhood psychiatric disorders. She is trained in using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, Behavior Modification, Motivational enhancement therapy, relaxation etc. She adopts a flexible treatment approach, considering any special needs of the clients.
